KREISS-TOMKINS RAISES $1,000,000 FASTER THAN ANY ALASKA GUBERNATORIAL CANDIDATE IN HISTORY

Less than 50 days after launching his campaign, JKT continues to outpace the field

SITKA, ALASKA — Just over one month after launching his campaign for Alaska Governor, Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins announced today he has raised over $1,000,000, the fastest any gubernatorial candidate in Alaska history has reached the milestone, excluding self-funding.

“Alaskans want a problem solver in the governor’s office, and the response to our campaign shows just how hungry Alaskans are for positive change,” shared Kreiss-Tomkins. “Alaska has been stuck in a cycle of managed decline for too long under Governor Dunleavy — schools closing, costs rising, young people leaving. This campaign is about turning that around, and I’m so proud to see the surge in support behind us. Alaskans are ready for a government that works again and a new generation ready to build a better Alaska.”

Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins has spent his career fighting for rural communities and making the state work for Alaska’s working families. During his decade in the legislature, he earned the respect and trust of Democrats, Republicans, and independents, putting governance over politics in order to solve problems.

The historic milestone underscores the early momentum behind Kreiss-Tomkins’ campaign and signals the appetite for a new generation of leadership in Alaska. With a broad coalition of supporters and a rapidly expanding base of support, the campaign is building the infrastructure to compete statewide and carry JKT’s message to every corner of Alaska.

“We’re taking this campaign to every corner of Alaska, from Southeast to the Interior to the Y-K Delta,” Kreiss-Tomkins said. “Alaskans know we’re at a crossroads, and they’re ready for a governor who can work with the legislature to solve Alaska’s big problems for the generations to come.”

About Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins

Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins (JKT), born and raised in Sitka, represented Southeast Alaska’s island communities for 10 years in the State House. He first won election at age 23 after leaving college without a degree to launch a grassroots campaign, traveling by ferry and floatplane to knock on nearly every door across Southeast Alaska, defeating an established incumbent by 32 votes.

A member of the Bipartisan Coalition in the House, he worked across the aisle to protect public education, reduce trawl bycatch and protect our fisheries, invest in infrastructure, revitalize Alaska Native languages, and protect the Permanent Fund from overspending.  After a decade in the legislature, Kreiss-Tomkins retired in 2023, and spent two years working for a national nonprofit on science and technology policy on Capitol Hill, as well as working on campaigns across Alaska and the country.

Since leaving the legislature, he's seen what all Alaskans have witnessed: a distracted state government that is failing to solve Alaska’s big problems. Prices keep rising. Basic infrastructure is neglected. Schools struggle or close.

Alaska needs new energy and new leadership. JKT is running for governor to support our schools, bring down costs, and give families a reason to stay — so that the next generation will also call Alaska home.
